Whatever our own experiences of the Covid-19 pandemic so far, we can agree that it has had profound effects on many of our young people’s lives, for better or worse. They are likely to have experienced increased anxiety, uncertainty and stress within their families, and their own existential questions are likely to have arisen. Navigating their learning and social lives through digital technology is likely to have posed challenges to all.
The pandemic has highlighted the importance of staff and student wellbeing more than ever before. As part of enabling all students and staff to transition back to healthy school life, a prioritisation on wellbeing is essential.
In the document below we offer a series of suggestions for activities and approaches to creating safe, wellbeing-sensitive spaces, which can help staff to nurture wellbeing in their classrooms.
